Patient Name: Kristian P.
Diagnosis: Chronic Migraines
Type of Procedure: Omega Procedure

How was your experience with your patient coordinator?
Hilary, my patient coordinator was amazing. She took care of everything, including dealing with my insurance company. She made the entire process from start to finish a total pleasure! I felt that she really cared about me. She follows up from time to time to see that I am ok.

How was your experience with your doctor?
Dr. Pierce was fantastic. He and his staff made me feel very comfortable through the trial and permanent surgeries. He made sure that I understood the procedure and recuperation time. I had no surprises.

What was your life like before surgery?
I had suffered with horrible crippling Migraines for over 20 years. I had tried every medication, including Botox. Nothing seemed to work for very long. I had been in the hospital 3 times and had DHE Therapy. Each time only lasted a few weeks for me. I had even tried a few rounds of SPG Therapy. It was very expensive and only lasted a few days. I spent most of my time in a cold, dark room throwing up with no quality of life.

What is your life like now, after surgery?
It has been 2 months since my permanent surgery and all of the post surgery healing is complete. I used to have a Migraine everyday. The implants control about 70% of my headaches. I do get 2-3 breakthrough headaches each week, but am using triptans to control the severity. The medicines work better since I am not having to take them everyday. The tech from St. Jude’s is always on call to help with new programs or any adjustments to make my implants comfortable on a daily basis.
Since the surgery, I am Narcotic free!!!! That has caused a huge improvement in my quality of life. For the first time in 10 years, I am actually going to fly on an airplane and take my family on a much overdue vacation. We are leaving in 3 weeks and I am not afraid of headaches ruining our plans.

What would you say to someone who is contemplating the Omega Procedure?
The Omega Procedure was the best medical decision I have made in a very long time. I had a few small glitches with the surgery, but my Doctor and Patient Coordinator made sure that I was repaired quickly. I would do it all over again, in a heartbeat!!!!!
My only regret is that I didn’t find out about it sooner.
