How the Omega Procedure Works

  • Tiny leads are surgically placed BELOW your skin, under the hairline. They transmit an electronic signal to disrupt your pain.
  • During a migraine, you control the electronic signal strength with a remote.

How the Omega Procedure Works

  • The Trial

Before the implant, you’ll have the chance to wear the implant, mostly externally, for about a week. This will allow you to feel how the device works and if you respond well to it.

During this test period, we urge you to challenge your migraine triggers. When you feel a migraine coming on, use the remote control and see if it works. Between 80%–90% of the people who undergo a trial end up having the implant.

  • The Implant Stage

It begins with a small battery pack and tiny wires called leads. Your physician makes one or more small incisions and implants the battery about an inch underneath the skin.

Your physician then runs tiny wires under your skin — two in the back and two in the forehead. These wires are typically targeted to where you experience pain.

  • Using the Device

Full recovery usually takes about 2–4 weeks, but most people can return to a desk job after 1–2 weeks.

You’ll be given a remote control that allows you to activate the battery pack when you sense a migraine starting.

Pushing the button on your remote will send a signal up the wires into the leads, and emitting an electrical signal directed at the area where you feel migraine pain.

  • Relief

Instead of feeling the pain of a migraine, you’ll feel a slight buzzing sensation where the leads are.

At that point, your migraine pain should either fail to materialize or subside.

You control the intensity of the electrical signals with your remote.
